A princess who can't do the one thing her kingdom needs her to do is trapped in a story that actually cares about that weight. Diancie isn't waiting around for the hero to save her, she's running toward her own power, terrified the whole way. The movie understands that desperation and determination aren't the same thing, and it doesn't let either one off easy.
Beneath the earth lies Diamond Ore Country, a hidden kingdom where Carbink live in harmony and Diancie rules as princess. The realm's survival depends on the Sacred Diamond, a massive gem that only the princess can create. But Diancie cannot yet make one, and the current diamond's power is running out. Without a replacement, the whole country will come to an end. Diancie meets Ash and Pikachu, and together they set out to find Xerneas, a Legendary Pokémon said to hold sacred power. Along the way they come upon a cocoon where Yveltal, the Destruction Pokémon, lies in wait, a creature said to have once wiped out life across Kalos. Thieves hungry for Diancie's diamond-making power soon enter the picture, and Diancie must discover her true strength if the Diamond Domain is to be saved.
