The animation carries you through what the story can't, moving fast enough that you don't notice the plot is just "gather party, fight evil." Characters are thin, but the backgrounds and action sequences exist in this gorgeous space where early 2000s CG actually belonged. If you played Ragnarok Online and want to see those monsters animated competently, this delivers that hit and nothing more, which is enough if that's what you came for.

Roan, a young swordsman, and Yufa, an acolyte and his friend since childhood, set out across the Rune Midgard Kingdom as a growing evil spreads over the land. Before leaving, Yufa bids farewell at the grave of her brother Orki. Along the way the pair meet fellow adventurers: Maaya, a merchant who travels with a Poring named Poipoi; Judia, a skilled hunter fond of fortune telling; and Takius, an enigmatic mage who never removes his blindfold. Their road runs through forests, deserts, towering heights and the underworld, all crawling with monsters and magic. Unaware of the fate ahead, the companions grow closer as they stand against the shadows over the kingdom, and Roan's feelings for Yufa may start to bloom. The result is an action fantasy adventure spread over 26 episodes.
