This is a one-off special that exists in a specific pocket of mid-2000s anime weirdness. The premise, dead father, guardian angel, global ramen competition, never coheres into anything resembling entertainment, and the animation budget clearly went to the opening theme instead of, say, moving the characters. Kaoru Torigara, the only son of a ramen shop owner, plans to renovate the ramen shop he has inherited. He soon finds that the shop has a guardian angel, Pretty Menma. Menma tells him that his dead father meant for him to succeed in the Food King Wars, a worldwide battle between restaurants held every four years. Kaoru and Menma must support each other through the hardships of the contest in this one-episode comedy special.
