A salaryman meets a voice actress in the most accidental way possible, and suddenly his ordinary life has a person in it who actually needs him. Fumihiko Matsumaru is an ordinary office worker without a girlfriend. After a colleague stands him up for a movie, he is about to throw the tickets away when a cheerful stranger asks to go with him instead. Following the film and dinner, he walks her back and learns they live in the same neighborhood. Hours later, her apartment goes up in flames. The girl is Aka Onda, a rookie voice actress, and with nowhere else to go she moves in with him. The two settle into something more than friendship but short of romance, keeping their living arrangement hidden from their employers while backing each other through the ups and downs of their careers.
