A burnt-out salaryman buys what he thinks is a pet parakeet and gets a interdimensional wizard instead. The show treats this premise with zero irony, playing every magical inconvenience completely straight while Sasaki just wants his bird to stop causing chaos in his apartment. Sasaki is a 39-year-old office worker worn down by dull corporate life. Hoping for a little brightness, he visits a pet shop and brings home an adorable Java sparrow he calls Peeps. The bird can talk, and it turns out to be the reincarnation of a renowned mage from another world. Things get complicated when he uses his powers to stop an attack on a woman named Hoshizaki. She is a government agent who hunts gifted people like him, and he ends up pulled into her secret agency and its dangerous missions, while war looms in the other world.
