Sherlock Hound takes the detective formula and strips away the self-importance, Holmes is a dog, Watson is a dog, everyone involved is a dog, and somehow this makes the mystery-solving feel like pure play instead of intellectual performance. The show moves with the kinetic energy of a silent comedy, all visual gags and physical slapstick layered underneath genuinely clever puzzles. You get the satisfaction of a real whodunit without ever feeling like the show is trying to prove how smart it is.

Late 19th century London lies under thick fog, lit only by gas lamps. Sherlock Hound, a famous canine detective, lives on Baker Street with his companion Dr. Watson. When a coach pulls up and someone pounds on the door, the pair set off in Hound's prototype Benz to take on a new case. Loosely adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle's stories, the show recasts the classic characters as dogs, with housemaid Mrs. Hudson helping out. The usual culprits are Professor Moriarty and his gang, who rely on wacky contraptions to steal whatever they want. The result is a comic adventure mystery.
