Call it a clip show if you want, but this is the cut that turned a Sunday robot cartoon into a heartbreak that Japanese fandom never got over. It strips the TV run down to the only thing that ever mattered: Takeru Myojin, raised on Earth as a Crasher pilot, is a Gishin weapon, and Gaia carries the bomb that makes him a walking countdown on the planet he's defending. Every Six God Combination sequence, Gaia, Sphinx, Titan, Shin and Uranus locking into GodMars, is really just a stay of execution against Emperor Zul. Then there is Marg, the twin left behind on the other side, and the movie knows exactly why you bought a ticket. In 1982, a planetary alignment brings a great upheaval to Earth. A light falls onto the Myojinsho reef, and five more lights spread out across the globe in its wake. Seventeen years later, humanity has developed the entire solar system and is starting to head into outer space. The Earth Defense Army forms an elite squad called Crasher to deal with whatever trouble arises out there. Takeru, found in the light that struck the reef, serves on the team. In truth he is Mars, born on the planet Gishin and sent by Emperor Zure, who seeks to conquer the universe, as a living trigger to blow up Earth. When a voice orders him to halt humanity's advance and destroy the planet, Takeru, raised as an Earthling, refuses and resolves to face his harsh fate. The film is a recap of the TV series.
