Blade is fighting an alien invasion he can never fully escape because he's already been transformed by it, and the show doesn't let him pretend otherwise. The Space Knights believe they're fighting alongside a hero. Blade knows he's fighting against what he's becoming. That tension, between the mask he wears and the thing eating him from inside, never resolves into comfort, and by the end, you understand why it can't.

In the year 2300 AD, a force called the Radam attacks Earth. Some months into the invasion, a tekkaman appears and gives his name as Blade. Working with a group known as the Space Knights, he takes up the fight against the Radam. Blade, however, keeps parts of his own past to himself. Blending mecha action, adventure and drama with threads of romance, the science fiction story runs across 49 television episodes.
