A space station hostage situation where the romance matters as much as the survival. Soul Link strips away the usual military academy posturing and forces you to watch these kids actually care about each other while everything is collapsing around them. The animation budget clearly ran out halfway through, but the emotional ground game between the characters carries episodes that should have been forgettable, this is what separates the people who stick with it from the ones who quit after episode two.

In 2045, Ryota and his classmates from the Central Military Academy's preparatory course travel to Aries, an old tourist space station outside Earth's orbit, for training. What should be an exercise becomes a fight for survival when the terrorist group Hallarax attacks the station. After helping evacuate most of the civilians and staff, Ryota, his friends and a handful of others are left battling for control of Aries while Hallarax threatens Earth with nuclear retaliation. His love interest Sayaka, his rival Kazuhiko and his older brother Shuuhei are among those caught up in the struggle. When a third enemy driven by treachery and greed appears, the group forms unlikely bonds as they fight to protect one another and Earth. The story mixes action, romance, drama and comedy with ecchi moments.
