The animation does the storytelling here, every frame deliberate in a way that makes you feel the weight of small moments. A woman running a restaurant, two broke inventors upstairs, a single night that might prove the impossible, the plot barely moves, but the character chemistry and art direction turn standing around talking into something precious. This is a show built for people who prefer watching characters exist together over watching them solve problems.

A young Chinese woman, called Miss China by the locals, runs the Tenkai, a restaurant and boarding house in a seaside town in the late 19th century. Her upstairs tenants, Dr. Breckenridge and Jim, spend all their money on outlandish creations and are always late with the rent. Their newest invention can supposedly carry people to the moon, but no one believes them, so the pair must find a way to prove it works before Miss China's patience runs out and they are evicted. Meanwhile, Miss China secretly longs for Jim, whom she mistakenly thinks is courting a flower girl in town. The single-episode OVA blends fantasy, romance and science fiction.
