Spooky Kitaro: Japan Explodes!! is a 2008 feature film spun off from the 2007 Gegege no Kitarou TV anime. Rather than adapting existing material, it tells an original story of its own. The film mixes action and fantasy with horror and supernatural elements, bringing the television series to the big screen as a standalone movie.
