This is the one that finally let the sprites move. Three episodes, no filler, just Kyosuke Nanbu driving the Alteisen Riese straight down the throat of an enemy formation because the worse the odds get, the more he likes them, with Excellen flirting over the comm from the Weissritter while she does it. The Vartoul drones and the ODE network give the fight an actual pit in your stomach: a defense grid that needs a living person wired into its core, feeding on human organs to stay online, which turns a mass abduction plot into something closer to body horror than mecha spectacle. Ryusei and the SRX crew get their moment too, and the animators clearly cared more about a stake driving home at point blank than about clean CG polish. It plays like a game you loved finally being taken seriously by someone with a key animation budget. Short, mean, and it respects that you already know these pilots by name.

Dr. Jurgen of DC has built a worldwide defense against possible alien attack. It pairs the VTX-001 Vartoul, an unmanned anti-alien PT, with ODE, a global network that directs the drones. The arrangement hides a dark requirement: a living person must run the ODE core, which also depends on human organs to keep going. Now the drones are abducting people on a massive scale, and Kyosuke and his companions are dispatched to put an end to it. The result is a three-episode science fiction mecha OVA built around robot battles.
