The girls stop saving the world and just exist for two episodes. No apocalypse. No alchemist trying to weaponize sound. Just Hibiki, Tsubasa, and Chris being exactly as ridiculous and fond of each other as the main series always knew they were. You get the permission to love them without the weight of watching them almost die every episode. That's rarer than it sounds for a magical girl show.

Two short special episodes accompany Senki Zesshou Symphogear G, released alongside the Blu-ray and DVD volumes of that season. These original shorts redraw the characters in a super-deformed style, and their labels point to a comedy take on the franchise with a slice-of-life bent, while keeping the music and magical girl elements of the main series.
