Ten years after a great war against monsters, the empire depends heavily on aer. Meanwhile, in the capital, Supreme Commander Alexei and the naive Princess Estellise are caught up in a hidden power struggle. As conditions in Ceazontania worsen, the local garrison learns it cannot count on quick help from the capital, and a surprising decision by its commander, Niren, sets the two young knights on a new course.
