Nobody remembers this anymore. That's exactly the point, it's a show that exists to let you sit with three cats in a Tokyo neighborhood and ask nothing of you except to be there. A 1988 OVA that moves at the speed of neighborhood life, where the biggest conflict is whether the cats will get fed on time, and that's enough. The whole thing feels like someone archived a corner of the city just to let you visit whenever you need to stop running.

TAMA & FRIENDS: 3 Choume Monogatari is a seven-episode OVA series from 1988, released directly on VHS as part of the Tama & Friends mixed media project, which also spanned video games and was produced by Group TAC. Six of its episodes were later recut into the 1993 TV series 3 Choume no Tama: Uchi no Tama Shirimasenka?, which left out the first episode and added three new ones. That opening episode stayed out of print until 2013, when it was digitally remastered for the franchise's 30th anniversary.
