Nobody's heard of this one. That needs to stop. These are stories about small moments that accumulate into something that matters, a kid and a wildcat, friends who mislead each other, ordinary Sundays. The animation doesn't try to dazzle you. It trusts that watching someone figure out who they are, or what a friend means to them, is enough. You finish an episode and realize you've been holding your breath the whole time, not because something dramatic happened, but because something true did.

Six OVA episodes turn prizewinning short stories from the Hanaichi Monme bulletin into animated picture books. Each tale earned that publication's Short Story Prize before reaching the screen. Among the adapted stories are Sanma's March and Noboru and the Wildcat, along with The Misleading Friends, One Sunday Morning at the Beginning of May, and Red Mail-Box on the Mountain-Tot.
