Sakurashin is a city where humans and youkai live side by side, drawn together centuries ago when the borders between their worlds briefly overlapped. Keeping the peace there takes more than ordinary police work, so the job falls to the Hiizumi Life Counseling Office, a group of gifted teenagers led by director Akina Hiizumi, whose family ability can send youkai back to their own world. Its members include the young mayor Hime Yarizakura, the mind-reading satori Ao Nanami, the half-youkai Kotoha Isone, who can call up anything by saying a word, and the oni siblings Kyousuke and Touka Kishi. Alongside volunteering and settling disputes, they put down Strikes, rare cases where humans suddenly gain youkai powers and run wild. When a sinister man appears, Strikes grow more frequent, political rivals start maneuvering, and dangerous people converge on the city.
