Taro shows up to fifth grade as an alien and nobody treats it like a problem, they just treat him like the weirdest kid in class. Takashi's obsession with figuring him out becomes the engine for every episode, each one a small puzzle that Taro either accidentally solves or makes infinitely more complicated. The show's real trick is that the comedy lives in the gap between how strange Taro is and how little anyone actually cares, turning an ordinary elementary school into the most accidentally surreal place on earth.

A blue transfer student with one horn, pointed ears, a smooth bald head and huge glowing eyes joins Takashi Horimachi's fifth-grade class at Anytown Elementary, and none of the kids have met anyone like him. Takashi, a curious but ordinary boy, becomes fixated on figuring out the newcomer, Taro Tanaka, and tries to follow his every move. His snooping keeps leaving him on the receiving end of Taro's silly cosmic pranks and traps. Adapted from Nagatoshi Yasunari's manga, the TV comedy runs 24 episodes.
