Jackie has built a life in Kenya that most kids only dream about. When she comes across a sickly bush baby, she names him Murphy and makes it her mission to bring him back to health. What starts as a simple rescue becomes something deeper: a genuine bond between a girl and an animal. As Jackie and Murphy settle into their routine alongside her family and their friends, adventure finds them constantly, from encounters with wild animals to run-ins with poachers. But Jackie's time in Africa has an expiration date. When her father is called back to England, she has to prepare to leave the life she loves. Before she can go, Jackie, Murphy and Tembo, a friend of her father's, set out on one final trek across the dangerous savannah. Hunted by poachers and corrupt police, Jackie teaches the now tame Murphy to survive as a wild animal again so she can return him to his natural home before she departs.
