Nobody talks about this one. Time is a cage in Iblard, bureaucrats watching every second you spend, until Nona escapes to a farm and discovers that growing something impossible, a star seed, is what it means to actually live. The film moves like a whisper in a museum, deliberate and strange, asking nothing from you except patience, and repaying it with a world that feels lived-in rather than explained. By the end, you understand why this was never meant for theaters.

Nona lives in a city where the Time Bureau keeps watch over how residents spend their time and reins in anyone it judges to be wasting it or misusing it. Unable to stand this, he leaves home and meets Ninya, a mysterious woman who takes him in to live and work on her farm. One day his cart breaks down on the way to market, and he swaps his vegetables for a star seed, which he resolves to raise. The short film is set in Iblard, an imaginary world conceived and painted by artist Naohisa Inoue, and was made to screen only at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka.
