Glicko is a young chipmunk raised in the city, where he lives with his sister. When he befriends a carrier pigeon named Pippo, the bird tells him about the Great Forest, a vast northern homeland where chipmunks live free. Captivated by the story, Glicko leaves the city and his sister behind and sets out alone to find it. On the road he crosses paths with friends and foes alike, including another chipmunk, Nono, whom he reluctantly lets tag along. Together they face predators and the harsh arrival of winter as Glicko searches for the place where he truly belongs. The film is a fantasy adventure with a dramatic streak.
