In July 1998, Mikiya comes across a girl clutching her stomach in pain one night and helps her. Around the same time, dismembered bodies turn up across the city, so badly torn apart that they hardly seem the work of a human. In a run-down bar, a street gang brutally assaults a teenager named Fujino Asagami, who meets their abuse with a blank, indifferent stare, and the next day mangled bodies are found in that same building. Touko Aozaki's detective agency receives a request, and Shiki Ryougi is sent to capture or kill whoever is responsible. When word spreads that one person got away from the slaughter alive, the killer starts hunting him down, and Shiki finds herself racing a foe her eyes cannot perceive. The film is a supernatural mystery thriller with action and drama.
