Four years after their first encounter amid a string of brutal murders, Shiki Ryougi and Mikiya Kokutou face a nightmare returning to haunt them. In February 1999, new killings surface that closely echo the crimes of 1995, and suspicion falls on Shiki because of her part in those old cases and her apparent likeness to the killer. Worse, the new murders wake a dark urge to kill that has slept inside her since then. Working separate investigations, the two hunt for the real culprit. Mikiya grows more and more worried about Shiki and hurries to find whoever is responsible, hoping to shield her from her own impulses. A tip from his cousin, the police detective Daisuke Akimi, draws him into the seedy underside of Mifune City, where clearing Shiki's name may be the only way to save her.
