Souhei Saikawa, an associate professor and a member of the Saikawa Research Lab, sets off on a lab vacation, and Moe Nishinosono, a university student and the daughter of his mentor, comes along even though she is not part of the lab. On a remote island they seek out Shiki Magata, a brilliant programmer who has spent years shut away in a hidden research facility and seldom receives visitors. Their visit is cut short when they find a body and are pulled into a gruesome locked-room killing that seems impossible. As the case grows into a series of murders, Saikawa and Moe work side by side to uncover what really happened and what lies in Magata's secretive past. The eleven-episode TV series is a psychological sci-fi mystery thriller.
