Shinjurou doesn't solve mysteries to save people or prove he's right. He solves them because the truth is the only thing that matters, even when the truth makes him powerless. Shinjurou Yuuki chases mysteries for a living, though most people know him by a different title: the Defeated Detective. In a near-future Tokyo still scarred by war, he works as a private detective long after the trade fell out of favor. Media King Kaishou Rinroku controls the country's communications and takes public credit for solving cases that Shinjurou actually cracked. Dark forces in the city's underworld have him in their sights, and even the police are not really on his side. Helping him is Inga, a cute but sharp and arrogant young partner whose true identity and reasons for staying close are kept secret, and who may have sinister plans for the culprits they catch.
