Atobe and Yukimura finally face off with nothing left to prove, just two captains who already know exactly how good they are. The match matters because these two never met at their peak in the original series, so this is the dream game fans have been waiting for since middle school. Tennis is just an excuse to watch two different kinds of perfection collide.

Keigo Atobe's Hyotei Academy faces Seiichi Yukimura's Rikkai University-Affiliated Middle School in an original story never depicted in the manga, set after the U-17 World Cup. The Atobe Group is opening a new tennis court in Kanagawa, and Atobe invites Rikkai, the strongest team in the area, to mark the occasion with an exhibition match. Yukimura agrees on Rikkai's behalf. For the graduating third-years, it is a final chance to play alongside their juniors. Hyotei's seniors guide Wakashi Hiyoshi, their next captain, while Rikkai's seniors wonder whether Akaya Kirihara, their only second-year, can carry the club. Both successors train hard to show they can step up.
