Wisteria sees what everyone else misses in Marbas, a demon so tired of being alone that he's forgotten what companionship even looks like. The show builds something genuinely tender between two creatures the world has discarded, and it never cheapens that connection with melodrama. By the end, you understand why they'd choose each other over salvation.

Wisteria is an orphan in Victorian England who begs for scraps to get by. She can see through the disguises that demons wear. When she meets Marbas, a powerful, furry immortal who has grown lonely over centuries on his own, the two find a kinship neither expected. Marbas is hunted by the brutal Sword Cross Knights, and Wisteria's own brother is one of them. Together the pair wander an empire where humans live alongside humanlike beasts, looking for somewhere they can share a peaceful life. The drama, fantasy and romance asks whether two such different souls can be happy together, and what that happiness will cost them.
