It opens with a girl bombing down a freeway on roller skates for the thrill of it, and by the end you understand that speed was never about fun. Tomoe loses a friend to a skating accident and answers that grief by falling in with Green Ship, a stunt crew, and into bed and heart with its leader Kazusa, no hesitation, no waiting period. Then the floor drops: Green Ship is a cover for an assassin training camp, and the love and the new life she grabbed onto turn into things she has to run from. What makes this two-episode 1991 OVA stick is that the fight isn't for the world, it's for the reckless fire she had before the funeral, the part of her that thought pavement at highway speed was worth it. Grief here doesn't get processed, it gets outrun. Tomoe just needs somewhere to go.
