Yami stops being a weapon and becomes a person. The show means it, spending entire episodes on her learning to smile, to want things, to exist outside violence. Every girl gets her own story instead of rotating through the harem, and watching them stumble toward humanity together is genuinely earned, even if the fanservice constantly tries to derail it.

Rito Yuuki's life stays chaotic in the second season of the Darkness arc. Golden Darkness, the emotionless shapeshifting assassin, looks further into the mysteries of her new life. Meanwhile, a sinister figure called Nemesis quietly controls her younger sister Mea. Together with Tearju, the mother they have only just found, this once divided family draws everyone's attention. Princess Momo's Harem Plan is on unsteady footing, because Rito still cannot confess to Haruna, his crush of many years, who has come to have feelings of her own. Beneath the everyday commotion, an evil force threatens the love and friendships around Rito. The season is a sci-fi romantic comedy with plenty of ecchi humor.
