This is the show that actually gets why otaku fall in love: it's not about choosing between 2D and 3D, it's about finding someone who loves the same things you do. Okumura doesn't have to stop being himself, and Lilysa doesn't have to apologize for cosplay being her entire life. The second half stops coasting on premise and becomes genuinely about two people building something together while their friends finally grow too.

Okumura lives by a simple creed: fictional girls beat real ones every time. As president of his school's manga club, he devotes himself to Lilliel, the sultry 2D character at the center of his fantasy life. Reality crashes in when Lilysa, a first-year cosplayer with genuine passion for the hobby, joins the club. She happens to adore the same manga character Okumura worships. When she talks him into becoming her personal photographer, he finds himself face-to-face with a real girl bringing his favorite fantasy to life. What starts as reluctant collaboration grows more complicated. Watching Lilysa embody Lilliel in racy costumes blurs the line Okumura has drawn between 2D and 3D, and the arrival of his childhood friend Mikari, now a model who joins the club as a cosplayer to win his heart, only complicates things further. The result is an ecchi romantic comedy set around cosplay and otaku life.
