A delinquent trying to be better keeps getting read as a threat until someone actually looks at him. Nanako sees the real Eiji immediately, and from there it's just two people being quietly, genuinely themselves around each other. The show costs almost nothing to make, and somehow that makes the tenderness hit harder, like you're watching something real instead of something designed to be beautiful.

Eiji spent middle school as a genuine delinquent, but high school is his fresh start. He joins the literature club with genuine intentions to change, except his natural scowl and perpetually angry-looking eyes sabotage every first impression. His senryu poetry doesn't help much either. Then he meets Nanako, the club's silent wordsmith who communicates exclusively through senryu. She's weird, energetic, and completely unbothered by Eiji's intimidating appearance. When the meddling club president decides to push the two together, their everyday school life starts playing out in short 5-7-5 verses. Adapted from a four-panel manga, the series is a light, relaxed mix of comedy, romance and slice of life about two first-year club members who have no trouble understanding each other.
