The gap between wanting someone and actually knowing them is the entire show. Naoki watches Haruka study, thinks he understands her, then realizes he's been projecting the whole time. Two episodes compress 34 volumes into a single moment of recognition: that falling in love and building something real are not the same thing. The OVA doesn't have time to earn its emotional beats, so it mostly doesn't try. What saves it is the quietness, two kids in a library, the weight of their futures pressing down, and the terrifying honesty of admitting you might want something you can't actually have.

Murakami Naoki is the smartest student at his high school, and in his final year, as university entrance exam preparation takes over, he cannot stop obsessing over a girl named Mizuno Haruka. When he finally asks her out, she surprises him by saying yes. Months of affectionate but clearly ill-fated romance follow, until the two sit the entrance exams for Tokyo University.
