It opens by throwing you into the end: Tokyo already burning, espers in the sky, before the show yanks the tape back to a broke high schooler chasing a flying penguin toward the Sky Tree. Then the glowing fish swims straight through Rinka's chest and she wakes up able to sink through her own floor, white hair flaring every time the power kicks in. That's the hook, and the first episode is genuinely electric, a street-level X-Men where the girl with the coolest ability in Tokyo still can't cover rent with her single dad. Hajime Segawa's Ga-Rei Zero DNA is all over it, cameos included, and the antagonists get real motive instead of cackling. Be warned, the plot goes sideways fast after that premiere and never fully finds the thread again. Watch it for the swagger of episode one and the image of a penguin flying over Tokyo, which no other show will hand you.

Rinka Urushiba is a high school girl in Tokyo who works as a waitress to support herself and her father. One day she spots a flying penguin and chases it to the Tokyo Skytree, where glowing fish drift through the air and a classmate, Kyoutarou Azuma, sees them too. When one of the fish passes through her, she faints and wakes able to move her body through solid matter, her hair turning white whenever she uses the power. Kyoutarou gains teleportation, and her father develops strong magnetic abilities. Rinka reluctantly becomes a hero known as the White Girl, and alongside Kyoutarou she takes on espers who use their powers for crime, while an organization with sinister ambitions gathers powerful fighters of its own. The show is a supernatural action fantasy set in Tokyo.
