When a race of evil transforming robots called the Destrongers invades a world exposition in New York and abducts Professor Onishi, a leading expert on energy and natural resources, his son is pulled into the conflict. Fire Convoy contacts the boy and takes him along on a mission to save his father, fighting beside the heroic Cybertron forces. Gigatron's army wants to drain Earth of its energy to fuel their war and, in the end, conquer the universe. When the first rescue attempt fails, the boy and his robot allies must keep fighting to free the professor and protect the planet. The show mixes giant robot action and science fiction adventure with a comedic streak.
