In nineteenth-century China, during the Qing Dynasty, an era of cooking wars pits top chefs against each other for respect and even power. The country teeters near chaos, and the stakes in the kitchen are high: insulting a high-ranking chef can mean jail, and posing as a top chef counts as seizing authority. Liu Maoxing, known as Mao, has become the youngest Super Chef in history. At his master's urging, he travels across China with his friends Shirou and Meili to broaden his skills. On his return he learns that the Underground Cooking Society is on the move. His late mother once fought that same group, and to carry on her wishes he joins new allies to protect the Legendary Cooking Tools from it. The show is a comedy built around cooking battles.
