In 2099, a medical android technology called Somadea has let humanity overcome every injury and illness. It also gives bodies strength far beyond ordinary flesh, and illegally modified Somadea has fueled a sharp rise in crime. To counter this, the government created a bounty hunter system: registered civilians may kill illegal Somadea users the police have listed as wanted, and they earn large rewards for doing so. To collect, a hunter must hand over the criminal's brain, and whether the target lives or dies makes no difference. Ubu Kamigori earns her living in this harsh trade. One day she comes home from a job to find Mr. Elegance, a man she shares a troubled past with, waiting for her, and her fate starts to come apart.
