This one doesn't try to move the story forward, it sits you down with people you already cried over and lets the summer come back up your throat. It's the final year of high school for Kaito's little film crew, and the whole thing runs on memory: the camcorder, the movie they made, Ichika, the confessions that got shouted instead of said. Reviewers are honest that almost nothing new happens here, and that's the point. It's built for the fan who finished the original series and wasn't ready to close the box, not for anyone meeting these characters cold. Low on spectacle, high on the ache of a group that knows it's about to scatter. Watch it right after the last episode, while the ending still stings, and it plays like one more evening on the porch before everyone leaves.
