Lasset lives on a farm in the rural northern United States, where he has raised a gray wolf from the time it was a puppy. When the wolf kills the family dog, its life is suddenly in danger. To keep it from being put down, Lasset sets out on a perilous journey through the wilderness with the wolf, heading for a sanctuary 300 miles to the north. Adapted from Mel Ellis's novel Flight of the White Wolf, this 1990 drama film centers on the bond between a boy and his wolf, and its entire score is drawn from Dvorak's Serenade for Strings.
