The world stops trying to be medieval and starts being weird. Four outcasts with impossible weapons cross a dying wasteland that's equal parts gunslinger frontier and crumbling fantasy, and the show trusts you to just follow them into it without explaining everything first. Romance threads through the adventure without drowning it, action hits when it needs to, and every character feels like they walked out of a different story that somehow works together. The pacing stumbles hard around the middle and drags you through filler that kills momentum. Watch it anyway if you want a western-fantasy hybrid that actually commits to both halves instead of picking one.

Adapted from a PlayStation game of the same name, the story follows four adventurers crossing the barren land of Filgaea and building a legend as they go. Sheyenne Rainstorm is a gunslinger who wields one of the fabled weapons known as ARMs. Kiel Aromax is a scientist, though he looks more like a swordsman. Roleta Oratorio, the Crest Sorceress, casts spells by using cards called Crests. Mirabelle Graceland belongs to the Noble Red, a family of vampire-like beings who live side by side with humans. Two small, clever, furry companions from the Popepi Pipepo Tribe, Isaac and Jerusha, travel with them. The show mixes action and adventure with fantasy and science fiction elements.
