A dog turning into a girl to save her best friend is the whole emotional core, and the show never wastes that. Instead of punching monsters, you're learning to listen, really listen, to what an animal needs, what a kid needs, what a friend needs. The tone shifts partway through and loses some of its edge, but the central idea holds: transformation isn't about power, it's about understanding someone else well enough to help them come back to themselves.

In a charming town where humans and animals coexist peacefully, Iroha discovers her closest companion Komugi isn't just any dog. When a destructive force called Garugaru begins corrupting the hearts of innocent creatures, Komugi transforms into human form and gains the power to fight back as a Precure. Now the two of them must work together to protect their animal friends and restore peace to their community. Iroha, a second-year junior high student, loves animals, and Komugi takes on the name Cure Wonderful to keep her safe. Together they set out to rescue rampaging animals and send them back to a place called Niko Garden. The series is the 21st entry in the long-running Precure franchise, a fantasy magical girl story built around the bond between a girl and her dog.
