Bai Xiaochun's panic-driven scrambling through apocalyptic stakes hits different now that the show has already proven it can break your heart. The comedy still lands, but the survival instinct that made him insufferable in season one has become something you recognize in yourself. This is what happens when a show refuses to let its coward protagonist stay a coward forever, no matter how hard he tries.

Bai Xiaochun is a young man who fears death and longs to live forever, yet cares deeply about his friends and family. Two sects stand on the brink of war, and to stop it he takes on a false identity as Ye Zang and slips into the rival Blood Stream Sect. He works his way upward there until he secures the title of Blood Child, but the looming conflict between the sects still has to be averted. This action comedy fantasy ONA runs 20 episodes and forms the first part of the franchise's second season.
