The magical girl genre doesn't usually revisit its endings, but this one dismantles its own conclusion and rebuilds it into something that costs the characters more than you thought they'd already paid. Every happy moment from the first two seasons gets recontextualized as borrowed time. The show moves between timelines like it's untangling a knot instead of telling a story forward, which makes the pacing feel broken until you realize that's the point, these girls are living through a fracture in what they thought their story was. The emotional weight lands hardest if you've been with them from the start, which is why it has to hurt this much to watch.
