Izumi doesn't just recruit actors, she rebuilds people who thought they were finished. Each troupe cycle repeats the same structure, which flattens what should be profound transformations into a formula. The theatrical sequences themselves are gorgeous enough to carry you through, and the God Troupe's arrival finally gives the company something to actually fight for instead of just survive.

Mankai Company was once a celebrated all-male theater, but it has fallen into debt, and Izumi Tachibana has vowed to restore her father's stage to its former glory. With the Summer Troupe's show complete, she now has to find five members for the next sub-troupe, the Autumn Troupe. The audition brings in Banri Settsu, a gifted but arrogant all-rounder; Juuza Hyoudou, an expressionless delinquent who loves acting; Taichi Nanao, who hopes performing will win over girls; Omi Fushimi, a college student who takes photos and cooks well; and Sakyou Furuichi, a yakuza member with a past link to the company. The new group cannot work together, and several threats put the production at risk, so Izumi has to pull them into a real troupe before their first performance. The story mixes comedy and drama.
