Sarasa's dream isn't to be the pretty girl in the show, it's to play the man, to command the stage as Oscar while everyone watches her do it anyway. The show builds something rare: genuine friendship between two girls with completely different reasons for wanting the same thing, and it never turns it into competition or sacrifice. Sarasa Watanabe, a bright-eyed country girl standing 5'10", enters the all-female Kouka School of Musical and Theatrical Arts hoping to become a top otokoyaku, an actress who plays male roles. Ever since seeing a Kouka staging of The Rose of Versailles as a child, she has dreamed of one day playing Lady Oscar. Her roommate is Ai Narata, a jaded former member of the idol group JPX48 who was pushed out after a controversial incident with a male fan and has sworn off men entirely. Ai's aloofness keeps her classmates at a distance, and Sarasa's knack for misreading the room causes friction of its own, yet Sarasa is the one person set on befriending her. As the two become reluctant partners in many of their classes, jealousy, deceit and the harsh side of show business test the young students. The result is a drama and slice-of-life story about ambition and friendship within the world of all-female musical theater.
