AKIRA is a new TV anime adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's post-apocalyptic cyberpunk manga, first announced at Anime Expo 2019. Rather than condensing the source, the project is planned to cover the entire manga from beginning to end. It is a dystopian science fiction work that blends action, drama, horror, psychological tension and the supernatural.
