Touma finally gets the moment he's been waiting for, and the show gives him the space to just be happy about it. The OVA doesn't need to go anywhere, it just wants to watch these four people exist in the same room, talking and laughing like the romantic chaos has actually settled into something real. Sweet enough to feel earned, light enough to land like a sigh of relief after twelve episodes of will-they-won't-they finally resolved into yes-they-did.
Futaba and Kou's story continues in this bonus episode, released with the 12th volume of the Ao Haru Ride manga. In their second year of high school, Futaba goes to a summer festival with her friends. The other girls skip yukatas, but Yuuri Makita wears one, set on getting closer to Kou. Taken by surprise, Futaba ends up watching from a distance as Yuuri and Kou appear to grow closer, leaving her to wonder whether she can make any headway with him herself. The episode is a romance and slice-of-life side story set among the franchise's familiar high school friends.
