Rising from the wreckage of a global war, the city of Olympus appears to be a utopia shared by humans and bioroids, genetically engineered people with restrained emotions who cannot reproduce on their own. Beneath the calm, tensions simmer: many humans see bioroids as inferior and as a threat, the human-run military wants them wiped out, and the bioroid-led government fears a coup. Deunan Knute, a legendary soldier who has spent most of her life on the battlefield, is brought to Olympus by its representative Hitomi to join the city's security force, though she doubts such a peaceful place can be real. She soon uncovers a plot that endangers the bioroids and could tip the city into war between the two peoples. Her former lover Briareos, now a cyborg after losing his body in combat, fights at her side. The film is a science fiction action drama with mecha elements.
