This is a character-driven comedy that knows exactly what it's selling: two girls with completely opposite energy levels forced to work together, and the chemistry between them carries everything. Aria's deadpan exhaustion at her E-rank student's unshakeable optimism is the entire show, and it works because neither of them breaks character for a joke. The story falls apart in the second half and the tonal whiplash is real, but by then you're already watching for the dynamic, not the plot.
SYNOPSIS
Akari Mamiya arrives at Butei High School starry-eyed and ready to become an elite armed detective, just like her idol Kanzaki H. Aria. Reality crashes down fast: her entrance exam places her at E-rank, the lowest possible rating, and she's promptly enrolled in remedial classes. Her dreams of legendary status feel impossibly far away. Then Aria herself steps in, agreeing to mentor this hopelessly outmatched newcomer. What follows is a chaotic mix of training montages, comedic mishaps, and genuine action as Akari stumbles through increasingly dangerous scenarios. She's stubborn, enthusiastic, and spectacularly uncoordinated, but she refuses to quit. Aria brings deadpan expertise and an unexpected patience for her bumbling student. Together they take on assignments, uncover conspiracies, and slowly build something like genuine partnership. The show balances laugh-out-loud humor with real stakes, never letting the comedy completely overshadow the danger lurking around each case.
