Aria swings a gun like it's a sword and somehow that works, because the show commits to its absurdity instead of apologizing for it. The action sequences have real weight and momentum; guns and blades move the way you want them to move. Kinji's "arousal mode" is peak nonsense, but the show milks it for comedy instead of pretending it's anything other than what it is. This is a harem show that knows exactly how dumb it is and leans in. If you want mercenary school chaos with character animation that actually sells the combat, this hits the target.

Aria Holmes Kanzaki is a hot-tempered prodigy at the top of the Assault division at Tokyo Butei High, a school that trains armed detectives called Butei. Kinji Tooyama, a sophomore, keeps a low profile to hide an inherited ability: when he is stimulated, he enters Hysteria Mode, gaining lightning reflexes and a protective streak. After a bombing by a Butei Killer copycat targets him, Aria saves his life, sees what he can really do, and pushes him to become her partner. She is not the only girl interested in his skills, and the result mixes action, comedy, romance and ecchi humor.
