Hajime gets thrown into a fantasy world as the literal weakest person in his class, then spends the series becoming monstrously overpowered through pure ruthlessness instead of chosen-one magic. Hajime Nagumo, a 17-year-old otaku, is summoned to a fantasy world along with his whole class and charged with saving humanity. His classmates receive powerful combat abilities, while Hajime gets only Synergist, a transmutation skill with no real offensive use, and is looked down on for it. During an expedition into the Great Orcus Labyrinth, a classmate betrays him and he falls to the bottom of an abyss. He survives the fall, but monsters and misfortune drag him into a grim nightmare. Determined to live and get back home, he chooses to fight. Deep in the labyrinth he meets an imprisoned vampire he names Yue, who also wants out, and she and others join his search for a way home as he grows toward becoming the strongest in the world.
